I love the spacious and bright upscale ambiance. One of the few Chinese restaurants here in Streeterville, so I had to support!
The food here is great. I ordered the beef chow fun, and it was pan fried to perfection! I think this dish is actually better than a lot of the Chinese restaurants in Chinatown! The portions were also very generous! I was so full by the time I finished. I think I could have split this up between 2 meals, but I didn’t have a way to take this back with me!
The service was great. Overall, a really good experience!
Shang noodle tied for our favorite restaurant as tourists in the Windy city! I highly recommend the Hong-Kong milk tea because it has a perfectly bitter and not too sweet chocolate black tea flavor. Bonus: it warms your from within. The general Tsao chicken bowl and Northern pork chop bowl were 5-star. The portions for both were huge (two meals, definitely). Our server was friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. Highly recommend if you're staying downtown; only a few blocks east of the Grand red line station.
Very atmospheric and just a lovely vibe. The food was solid and the staff was very kind, they helped suggest some menu items and they did not disappoint at all. I personally got the everything fried rice and honey sesame chicken. Good portion sizes for the price on both, the everything fried rice was very good and everything was cooked to perfection. The honey sesame chicken was very good, breaded differently from your every day Chinese takeout spot and was very clean and crisp. Well seasoned with a very savory sauce, rice was on point and the drinks were very good, I got a mule and it was nice and sour.
Highly recommend to make a reservation if you can. It's a popular restaurant. They have a small waiting/sitting area inside the restaurant (can sit probably 6 people). Decent amount of food item selection. The food we got were all great, especially the Hong Kong Chow Fun, one of the best we ever had!! As this place is super packed and with a constant wait line, it will not be a great place to dine and stay sit and chat. All the employees we had interactive with were very friendly, swiftly, and professionally. We love it!!
10/10 will recommend this place for the amazing food.
The food was top notch. I prices were fine. It was Christmas and was one of the only places open. We definitely appreciated that
Absolutely divine. Huge portions, excellent service, and super tasty dishes. Make sure to get a dish with noodles- they are made fresh every morning, and you can taste it! I LOVED the Hong Kong Chow Fun noodle dish with beef.
I highly recommend the Sizzling Bowls. I'm vegetarian and got the veggie version, but was worried it would basically be a hot salad. It was DELICIOUS. The crispy veggies, the interesting presentation, the salty/spicy peppercorn flavors. And it had nice crunchy tofu in it. I upgraded the rice to egg fried rice to make it even more indulgent. Yum. Still thinking about it tbh.
Delicious food in a great atmosphere! We had the eggplant, salt and pepper soft shell crab, dry sizzling shrimp and fish pot, and the Sichuan Maocai pot with sliced beef.
The shrimp and fish dry pot was my favorite! Fresh seafood fried perfectly with a tasty sauce.
The manager Mandy greeted us, and her recommendations were perfect. She suggested the lychee martini and it was so good! Not too sweet and very refreshing.
Can’t wait to come back on my next trip to Chicago.
